I don’t play Left 4 Dead for a week or so, and what happens? My subconscious decides that I obviously haven’t been killing enough zombies, so I should live out this desire to play L4D by making me dream about Zombies.
In my dream, some guy had a white Pit Bull that seemed very handy at killing zombies for a while.
Which reminds me:
Have you played The Outbreak?
It’s an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure style web film.
But I want to know… why does it always seem to be night time when zombies are around?
The Outbreak was pretty good! I liked the colour-coded Chapter Selection feature, it definitely made the whole thing much easier to play and enjoyable.
I’m not entirely sure I agree with their modus for the results of the player’s choices, this may tie in to your theories on PC Protagonism – as I player I wanted my choices, which I considered to be somewhat informed beyond arbitrary clicking, to have more effect than what turned out to be a narrative based on (possibly more realistic) pure luck.
I still liked it though! Besides, zombies too have a sense of frugality when it comes to production budgets – day scenes are too much of a burden on their (un)make-up department.
